Dress-up

Wow. I either have budding fashionistas or the most high-maintenance teenagers-in training you have ever seen! Dress up consumes their days. Feather boas, princess dresses, hats, tiaras...they come clomp, clomp, clomping through the house in plastic shoes. I think there are children in there!

It's gotten so bad with Jorja that we have little Snow White or Cinderella at most meals. Wake up...get a sippy of milk...change out of PJ's into dresses. It's a fight to get her into real clothing sometimes. Who knew she would actually want to live life in cheap satin and tulle, with an occasional sequin. Oh, and the feathers...ick...feathers everywhere!

As for home school, we fit in an hour again today while Jorja was napping and Josie was playing in the office/playroom/classroom today. I'm gearing up for next week when we start into our Sonlight curriculum. Whooohooo!

Today at the grocery store a lady asked Jonah where she went to school. She started to say FCBA...and then proudly said "Homeschool!"

I have internet!!

What the heck? I have no idea why every May my DSL goes down for hours at a time all day. And guess what?? Neither does Bell South.

I just sit here pressing "connect", "refresh", "connect", "refresh"...you get the idea...for minutes at a time...I am too impatient. It's worse than dial-up. Wait? Did I just type that? Not really...but it's close.

Friday we had our first day of home school. It was very abbreviated, and initiated by Jonah herself. She is very excited about home school and couldn't wait to get started. She asked me Friday morning when school would begin, and when I told her June 2nd, she replied "how about today?" Such a cutie.

We just did a little coin counting, telling time, phonics (the kid is a whiz with homonyms) and I read the first chapter of Charlotte's Web. All in the afternoon during nap time. This may actually work!!!

Only 5 1/2 days left!?!

Can you sense the excitement? Only 5.5 days until my Jonah is a bona fide homeschooled first grader!

She has grown so much this year! I was just looking at pictures and it's evident that she is no longer a preschooler. She's a kid!

Here she was her first day of Kindergarten:

And here she is just last month:

Time is passing so quickly. I sometimes just sit on the floor with the girls and stare at them. Drinking in every freckle, every curve of their faces...watching them smile, play, and love each other. This is what motherhood is supposed to be, isn't it?

We need to slooooowwww down...

I think it's pretty sad when your husband asks your 2 year old for a hug and she doesn't even look up from her toys as she responds "I'm busy daddy."

Yeah...I need watch what I say around the kids, that's for sure.

Also, BellSouth, heretofore known as my buzz kill, is going crazy again. it's after 9 and I'm just now able to get a connection today. Just setting up another reason I might not succeed at keeping a blog going...I'm just saying!

Giving credit where credit is due...

I must clear my conscience...I did not name my blog. I was desperate and asked my dh (dear husband) for help. Seeing that we had about 5 loads of clean, unfolded laundry at the foot of the bed, he went with the obvious choice. I, being very merciful and (after 10 years of marriage) having a good sense of humor agreed with him. Of course, he did wait a full day to tell me, he had to get up the nerve.

I must say, if you know me very well, it fits...

The Low-down...

I know you are all asking yourselves..."what the heck is she thinking? She can't even keep up with the laundry!" Hence, the title of my blog.

Well, I'm thinking that to keep my sanity (and some accountability on the side) I need an outlet...sewing doesn't work...too much of a mess, and little fingers are always in my bobbins. I need something little people can't destroy...well, as much as they love to turn off my computer (pretty blue button) I don't think they can make a mess of my blog...but we shall see!

Here are a few ground rules for reading this blog...
  • I will probably go for days, weeks, maybe even months without updating. That is the nature of the beast (in this case, I'm the beast).
  • Typos are going to happen. I rarely find myself at the computer without a 6 year old asking for more to drink, a toddler scouting out her next adventure, and an infant in my lap, and a dog scratching to go out. That's my life, and I'm not trading it. Bad grammar comes with the territory.
  • I am sometimes funny, sometimes emotional. I am a girl. I am motivated by my moods.
I think that's pretty much it, but I also have the right to change the rules at any time. It's my blog after all!

What I need from all of you who are reading (yes, both of you!) is to keep reminding me of how much I want to home school and how nice an empty laundry basket looks. Deal??

Oh, and thanks for reading!!
